I cannot figure out how to change the admin username and password on my new router rt2600ac. I have read the perfunctory forum response on this issue and it is so vague and doesnt even seem to apply. The quick start guide says to use admin and password - so I used that and now I can find no way to change.

I then tried to use the factory reset from within the Synology RT2600ac user interface. It failed, so I had to resort to using a paperclip to manually reset the RT2600ac to factory default settings. After reconnecting to the Comcast modem, I tested the end user's email again (without the Private Internet Access VPN) and all worked as it should.

I Synology cared about its end users not only would that be an option, but there would also be a way for you to open and read that file, selecting which settings you wanted to keep, when setting up the Synology router. I then tried to use the factory reset from within the Synology RT2600ac user interface.

The Synology RT2600ac has a fairy traditional router look. It is a reasonably large matte-black box with status lights on the front and the four external antennas protruding upwards. The Synology logo is embedded in large letters on the front and an array of passive air intakes provide some subtle styling.

Start by locating the reset button on the back of your NAS drive. It's usually right next to the USB and Ethernet port (s). Next, get a paper clip or a SIM card removal tool and hold down the reset button for about five seconds—until you hear a beep. Then let go immediately.

RT2600ac won't boot after update. Yesterday I've updated my RT2600ac from 1.1.7-6941-3 to 1.2-7742-1 and now it refuses to work. Only Status LED is glowing constant orange but no others. I've tried unplugging it for the whole night, tried soft and hard reset several times (waited enough after that) without any luck.

Usually the router spies on us, but in this case, I am spying on the router. To do so, as described above, the WAN port of the RT2600ac is Ethernet connected to a LAN port on my Pepwave Surf SOHO.The outbound firewall rule, shown at the right, on the Surf SOHO lets me allow and log every outgoing connection made by the Synology router.

Re: cm1200 to Synology RT2600ac. Reason I said disable it in the cm1200, is that from what I can read, wan port aggregation doesn't work with the synology. You CAN run dual modems to it or modem-mobile router type setup with load balancing/fail over. But you can't run single modem setup to both wan and lan1 port.

The set-up of the RT2600ac was a breeze, but I had seen that before, as this works exactly like the RT1900ac. In fact; I downloaded a configuration backup on the RT1900ac, uploaded it to the RT2600ac and done. Unplugged the old, installed the new. All done. The Synology RT2600ac Router. Well, almost; I still had the Mesh-node MR2200ac to set-up.

1. you can reset just administrator login credentials and network settings to default settings if you have forgotten your password, want to move your Synology NAS to another network environment, or need to assign a new IP address. Then all data will remain in the NAS. Use the guidelines.
